Zechariah Part 8

In chapter 7 of Zechariah, God speaks to the people with scorn, when they ask if they should continue weep and fast, telling them that they should have obeyed Him before Judah and Israel were destroyed. And, He spoke of their disobedience that cost them everything.

Then, in chapter 8, the Lord speaks two prophecies to Zechariah. The first shows His intent to build Zion and bless the people, but with some subtle conditions that we know that they did not follow.

However, the second prophecy is yet to be fulfilled, and hints at a new covenant.

Zechariah Part 6

Zechariah 5 provides us with an almost impossible challenge. And, I don’t know how much of what ANYONE says should be considered accurate. However, the wording seems to indicate a time in the future, a future where our civilization isn’t what it is today. And, it may be that the Land of Shinar becomes something that we wouldn’t have expected.

Furthermore, we have some fantastic imagery, a flying scroll, the only time that we have ever seen female angels described in the Bible, a woman who represents wickedness and the basket that she is carried is about nine gallons.

This is heavy stuff, so let’s dig in.

Jacob, The Prodigal Son?

I have spent time – probably too much time – discussing eschatology with every form of eschatology that is out there, and one thing has become clear:

Everyone claims that the children of Jacob need to be punished.

The Jews have suffered unspeakable persecution and suffering for two thousand years, yet most Christians believe that this isn’t enough. Most say that the Great Tribulation is the punishment of Israel. A few claim that they are tossed into the Millennium, while we rule over them. Others say that the Jews had their chance, and they don’t get a second one.

I am appalled at this.

Things I Got Wrong – Mea Culpa

We all get things wrong. All of us. The question is whether we will admit our errors. And, I can’t remember when a pastor or Bible teacher ever admitted an error. Maybe my memory is bad, but I have no memory of that ever happening.

That’s wrong.

Why?

Because it is literally impossible for a pastor or Bible teacher to never be wrong. And, it’s the number one reason why we must all be experts in the Word of God, so that we can challenge error in our teachers and pastors.

So, let’s talk about a few of my own errors.

War In Israel – Again

I was going to write about something else today, but it seems that events have overtaken the need to talk about Bible translation or eschatology.

But wait, how do we know that this isn’t about eschatology?

Well, of course it is, and I’ve lived through some of what is happening now during the Second Intifada while I was living in Jerusalem. I assure you that this is nothing new, and it is all a part of God’s plan.

Unfortunately, it still hurts to see Israel and Israelis suffer. May God give them peace, and may the day when they recognize their Messiah come soon.

Bad Eschatology And An Announcement

After getting both books out a month ago, I went looking for what other people believe about Last Days. It has been a fascinating journey through some really bad eschatology. Worse, very few seem to understand why they believe what they believe, and even fewer seem able to understand why people would disagree with their position. That’s bad.

Our pastors have not been giving us the tools to help us understand the Bible, to rightly divide the word of Truth (2 Tim 2:15). And, because we are unable to do so, Christianity has devolved into a team sport, where ours is always right and yours is heresy.

Ezekiel’s Fire, 6th Edition

After more than ten years of writing and rewriting, Ezekiel’s Fire has finally reached its final version. It spells doom for our way of life. Stars just like our own are flashing brightly with civilization-killing superflares, thousands of times bigger than anything we’ve ever seen from our own sun.

These observations confirm what the Bible has been saying. For a moment, our sun will brighten by seven times, and a vast cloud of dust will sweep by earth, obscuring the stars and destroying our civilization. Unfortunately, that confirmation means that billions will die as every city, around the world is crushed in the biggest earthquake since The Great Flood.
