I have avoided saying anything about current events because what we are hearing is not exactly what is happening, and what happens afterwards is more important, anyway. But I do have a few things that will help you see a little bit of what’s coming.
Just remember that the dog NOT barking is the most important sign.
The other thing is that Google threatened to take down my Bible in One Year apps if I didn’t update them. So, I did. And now they are better.
Oh, and I’m fighting a bone infection. Osteomyelitis. That was what kept putting me in the hospital.

Iran, Russia and Bible App Updates
Some of what I say right now will be slightly out of date by tomorrow. The next phase of the bombing campaign has apparently begun, and what you have seen will intensify. They’ve brought in the B-52 bombers and are beginning to change targets from missile launch facilities to depots, army bases and any underground infrastructure that is left. But…
Notice what they are not hitting:
Oil infrastructure.
Kharg Island has not been hit. Oil terminals, pipelines and oil extraction facilities have been left untouched. There might be some accidental damage, but I have yet to see any. This means that the US and Israel want these facilities available to the new regime that takes power.
They do NOT want Iran destroyed. But they DO want Iran to be under better management. And Israel and the US know that this new regime needs to be friendly to Israel so that their water infrastructure can be fixed. If the new regime is hostile to Israel, it will split apart into its component ethnic groups.
Remember that Iran is facing an existential water crisis what will cause Iran to lose at least half of their population over the next few years, if their water infrastructure isn’t repaired and reorganized.
Ultimately, this is the outcome that we are unable to predict.
Does Iran hold itself together?

Does Iran split into Persia, Kurdistan, Baluchistan, Azerbaijan and Lur?

If you do a bit of research into the countries surrounding Iran, they all have ethnic groups that reach into Iran. Some, like the Azeris, Kurds, Lurs and Balochis might like to break away from Iran and join their ‘brethren’ outside of Iran. This would scare Turkey, Iraq and Pakistan but would be welcomed by Azerbaijan. And the Lurs – where Elam once was – might like to go it alone.
If Iran is too weak to hold itself together, it will fly apart. The question is whether a charismatic figure like Reza Pahlavi can unify the country and convince the Iranians that they are stronger together than apart.
If Iran remains strong, and can convince the minorities to stay with Iran, then Iran might be able to rebuild as a unifying force in the Middle East. The assumption is that this new Iran would be democratic in some way – either as a Constitutional Monarchy like the UK or a democratic republic like the US.
How this turns out depends upon people that we cannot see right now. History has shown that mid-level officers, politicians and bureaucrats can do much to change the path of a country in the middle of such chaos.
One glimmer of hope is that Artesh (the national Iranian army) has shown some willingness to switch over to the side of the Iranian people and stand against the IRGC – the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. Many Artesh soldiers are leaving their bases and going home with their weapons to protect their families and any new demonstrations against the IRGC that break out.
Low and mid-level Artesh soldiers will probably decide the future of Iran.
An Islamic Russia
No one has been talking about the Islamic takeover of Russia, and this is another case of the dog not barking. As the demographics of ethnic Russia collapses – with a birthrate well below replacement – the Muslim ethnic groups are surging.
By 2040, Russia will be 30% Muslim. But that doesn’t tell the whole story. That 30% will be concentrated right down the middle of Russia, along the Ural mountains. And the Muslim ‘stans’ to the south, like Kazakhstan, will be more than happy to encourage this Islamification of Russia – or at least the parts of Russia that are the most Islamic.
Furthermore, as Russia weakens itself in its foolish war with Ukraine, they will accelerate the process of Islamification and even the disintegration of Russia. This process has already begun, but it is unclear how fast it will progress.

Something ISLAM Did Will Permanently ERASE Russia
At the very least, Russia will break up and shrink to the principalities of Moscow and Saint Petersburg. The rest of the Russian Federation will seek independence or be engulfed by nations to the south. China has already begun a slow takeover of southern Siberia.
Bible Reading Apps Updated

Google Android gave me an ultimatum that I needed to post a new update to my Android developer account by February 6th or lose the entire account. And since I believe that reading the Bible through every year is important, I worked hard to get one update in before the deadline.
That was hard because they had conveniently changed their integrated development environment (IDE). There’s nothing like having to navigate a new programming environment while facing a deadline. But I got the first app update in on time and went on to update the other four apps.
The biggest change now automatically detects whether your phone is set for dark theme or not, and gives you an easy way to switch the app between light and dark themes. I had wanted to make that happen for a long time, but couldn’t justify the amount of time it would take to make it happen.
Well, God joggled my elbow and forced me into a position of doing the update. He also gave me the opportunity to resurrect a Bible version that might be the most important of all:
The Bible in Basic English (BBE)
I am a passionate purist when it comes to Bible translation, but more than that, I want people from all over the world to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. It’s why I’ve been living in Asia for more than 30 years. And those living in Asia will struggle to understand the ‘better’ translations of the Bible.
Yes, I could have used a translation for each language group in Asia, and they are out there. But there is one thing that unites everyone across the world – a desire to learn and improve their English. It is the single most unifying language on the planet. In fact, in India, everyone needs to know English if they wish to communicate with people from another province.
I experienced this myself, working with an Indian programming team in Indiana. They were from all over India, and their only common language was English.
The other benefit is for those who were like myself when I was young, but unable to read well enough to understand the KJV or other translations. So, the BBE is great for young English speakers, and a serious young Christian should be given the chance to read the Bible in a Year.
I have made extra sure that none of these apps can access the Internet. They also do not use Javascript or any database functions – both of which have some vulnerabilities. This means that these apps are safe for anyone and everyone.
They are also simple. Just tap and start reading today’s portion of the Bible – some each from the Old Testament, New Testament, Psalms and Proverbs. By the end of the year you will have read all of the Bible once and Psalms twice.
Few things have blessed my life more than reading the Bible through every year. And you owe it to your spiritual life to take less than half an hour a day, to feed your spiritual growth.

My Bone Infection – Osteomyelitis
I was in the hospital last year three times (for a total of a month), and each time was more deadly than the previous. And when I mentioned to my oncologist that I was in a race between what would kill me first – my chronic leukemia or my chronic staph infection – I got her attention.
She sent my test results to the infection specialists. The infection people reacted in horror and decided that it was their job to fix this, which is unusual since everything goes through your oncologist, even if you have a cold.
They discovered that I had a bone infection – osteomyelitis – and that it was bad enough that I needed really toxic antibiotics. It’s the stuff you take when you have MRSA.
Now, do I have MRSA?
Dunno.
They don’t tell you these things, here in Taiwan. (No, seriously.)
Taiwan is a First World country, with a Third World mentality. And getting them to treat any uncommon medical condition is almost impossible. In fact, it has taken close to ten years and three stays in the hospital with sepsis to actually get their attention. And yes, I’ve had this osteomyelitis for ten years.
So, now I have one more threat to my life. I should make a list sometime. And yes, China is on that list.
Worse, this antibiotic is attacking my joints, and the joints that I value the most are in my hands. But it is possible that they might be able to stop my antibiotic in about ten days. Maybe.
Unfortunately, the nine year old wound in my foot still hasn’t healed, so they might want to punish me some more with this toxic drug. Seriously, the medical journals say that you shouldn’t take Clindamycin unless no other antibiotic works.
Then, one of my two favorite sisters (I only have two) is a medical professional in the US and said that I can get C. diff and die while taking this drug. I said, “WHAT?!”
She said, “Oh yeah. You can die just by licking your finger.”
I can die just by licking my FINGER?
So, add licking my finger to the list of threats to my life.
This means that I’m achy, grumpy, nervous, sometimes hysterical, exhausted, tired and barely able to make it to church on Sundays. And NOT licking my fingers.
So, that’s my situation – along with all that Russia and Iran stuff.
God is good, and we all have a front row seat on His plans for the Last Days. It’s an exciting time to live, but I’ve developed a real attraction to boredom.
Pray for the peace of Jerusalem.
