Aurelius Augustinus was, by all accounts, a good guy. He said some good stuff, and you will find people in every Christian denomination who think highly of him. He was thoughtful, intelligent, highly educated and extremely eloquent. But unfortunately, he blundered. Badly.

He had his reasons, and they are completely understandable. But, it doesn’t change how his writings strengthened the Roman Catholic Church and gave foundation to the worst heresies that currently grow in our midst.

Revelation 20-22: The Millennium, New Jerusalem And A Warning

Laying Out Revelation – Part 8

Satan is bound and Jesus rules and reigns with His saints for a thousand years. Then Satan is loosed and deceives the world AGAIN, leading to a final battle. After that, a second resurrection occurs, and all who are not found in the Book of Life are thrown into the Lake of Fire.

A new heaven and a new earth appears, along with a city called New Jerusalem. This city is a giant cube 1500 miles (~2400 km.) wide and tall. It’s called the Bride of the Lamb.

There’s also a dire warning that we must pay attention to.

Bad Eschatology, Part 3 – The Pretribulation Rapture

My favorite pastors believe in a pretribulation rapture. I currently attend a church that holds to a pretrib eschatology. So, my disagreement with this view is no reflection upon anyone’s faithfulness to God. In fact, I normally like pretribbers more than post-tribbers.

However, as your brother in Christ, I am required to point out where you get things wrong, especially if such errors put you in harm’s way.

Just remember what I wrote last week about our tendency to blindness. We are all vulnerable to error, and it’s hard to undo the mistakes that we were taught.
